Pooles Cavern 2011

On Saturday 21st of May 2011 the Cubs visited Pooles Cavern in the Grin Low and Buxton country park.  We started the day by having an excellent tour of the caves.  The guide was a former Scout and told us all about the fascinating rock formations and the gruesome history of the caves.  We found out about the bodies buried their and the highwayman who lived their as will as the amazing rock formations that had gown up over the past few millennium.
When we had finished in the caves we climbed up through the woods towards the top of Grin Low and had our lunch amongst the humps and bumps that are all that remains of the old mineral workings.  Then we raced up to a folly called Solomon's Temple placed on the top of the hill and took in the views all around.
Finally, after a brief stop for a games of cricket, we made our way back through the woods and good look around in the gift shop.  A good time was had by all.
