Sponsored Walk 2015

STH72967On Sunday 3rd of May the Scouts set off from Dum Hill on a sponsored walk to raise money towards the cost of the upcoming Peak 2015 camp.
The idea was to walk back to our hut in Shelton Lock in about 4 hours.  The weather was a bit damp to start with but it soon brigthened up.  Our route took us down the hill in to the edge of Breadsall before joining the river just over the railway.  We then followed river past the new MCC base and all the way through Darly Playing Fields towards the middle of town.
We stopped for lunch in the playing fields and some of the Scouts had a paddle in the river as it was quite warm by now.
After lunch we carried on down the river path through the town centres and on to Pride Park.  Legs were getting a little tired by now.  The final leg took us along the old canal path from Alvaston Park all the way to Boulton Lane.  It was just a short hop then to get back to the hut.
It was a long walk but good fun, and we got back safely.  The walk raised £411 which was fantastic work
