Chilly Challenge 2014

chillyOn Saturday 18th of January 2014 to the Scouts took part in the Derbyshire Chilly Challenge.  This involves spending a night under canvas in January.  The event is about the challenge of sleeping out in cold weather and the boys rose to it quite well.  The event is annual and the Scouts get a bage to wear on the uniform if they complete it.
We chose to go to our local site Drum Hill, and where joind by three other sections from around the county.  We went to the sate in the day light to put the tents up and returned later in the evening for the sleepover.  The weather was predictably chilly but the main problem we had was the wind and rain.  Fortunatly the Saturday evening was not too bad so we were able to get a fire going.  Unfortunatly, Sunday was very wet, so the tents were all a bit muddy and soggy by the time they were put away as were the Scouts.
